Structure functions and energy dissipation dependence on Reynolds number
نویسنده
چکیده
The dependence of the statistics of energy dissipation on the Reynolds number is investigated in an experimental jet flow. In a range of about one decade of Reλ (from about 200 to 2000) the adimensional mean energy dissipation is found to be independent on Reλ, while the higher moments of dissipation show a power-law dependence. The scaling exponents are found to be consistent with a simple prediction based on the multifractal model for inertial range structure functions. This is an experimental confirmation of the connection between inertial range quantities and dissipation statistics predicted by the multifractal approach. Typeset using REVTEX 1

The Effect of Viscous Dissipation and Variable Properties on Nanofluids Flow in Two Dimensional Microchannels
Laminar two dimensional forced convective heat transfer of Al2O3 –water nanofluid in a horizontal microchannel has been studied numerically, considering axial conduction, viscous dissipation and variable properties effects. The existing criteria in the literature for considering viscous dissipation in energy equation are compared for different cases and the most proper one is applied for the re...
متن کاملInfluence of Slope and the Number of Steps on Energy Dissipation in Stepped Spillway Using Numerical Model
Recently the stepped spillways have been used as an appropriate solution for energy dissipation. In the present study, Siahbisheh dam spillway is simulated by using Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD), in which the Mixture method and Reynolds Stresses Model (RSM) turbulence model is used. In the first modeling series the over all steppes slope is constant. The number of the steps is increased to ...

A model for the Reynolds-number dependence of the dimensionless dissipation rate C(ɛ) was derived from the dimensionless Kármán-Howarth equation, resulting in C(ɛ)=C(ɛ,∞)+C/R(L)+O(1/R(L)(2)), where R(L) is the integral scale Reynolds number. The coefficients C and C(ɛ,∞) arise from asymptotic expansions of the dimensionless second- and third-order structure functions. This theoretical work was ...
